Rwanda Names Stephen Constantine as New Amavubi Head coach

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has officially confirmed the appointment of Stephen Constantine as the new head coach of Rwanda’s senior men’s national football team, a move expected to bring new energy and direction to the team known as Rwanda national football team (Amavubi).

In a press release issued by FERWAFA, the federation announced that Stephen Constantine will lead both the senior national team and the Rwanda U-23 national team. The experienced coach has signed a two-year renewable contract.

According to the federation, the appointment reflects Rwanda’s continued commitment to strengthening its football structures and improving the country’s performance on both the continental and international stage.

Constantine is expected to officially begin his duties on Monday, March 16, 2026. From that date, he will start working closely with the current technical team and players to prepare for the upcoming FIFA Series Tournament scheduled to take place later this month in Kigali.

Football leaders believe the new coach’s international experience will help develop the team and improve its competitiveness. His first weeks in charge will focus on preparing the squad for upcoming matches while assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the current team.

FERWAFA also stated that more details about the appointment, including technical plans and the long-term strategy for Amavubi, will be shared during an official press conference expected to take place next week.

The announcement has already attracted attention among football fans across the country, many of whom hope that Constantine’s leadership will guide Rwanda to stronger performances in regional and international competitions.

With a new coach now confirmed, supporters of Amavubi will be watching closely to see how the team performs under its new leadership in the months ahead.
